Scary movies scare me. However, the fact that I cover my eyes and jump at sharp noises makes me appreciate the horror film more so than many other genres, something I blame on a certain Freddy Krueger's influence on my early years. In fact, I think I'll go tell him at this year's Fear Fest 2, where Krueger—or rather, actor Robert Englund—will be the guest of honor. In fact, the whole A Nightmare on Elm Street legacy is celebrated this year as cast members from the original and various sequels will be on hand. Besides, what else do they have to do? If I get my fill of Elm Street reunions, there's always the reunion of actors (is that the right term?) who have played Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th) through the decades and even Michael Berryman, that crazy-looking guy from The Hills Have Eyes—which convinced me never to travel on desert roads. Get your fright on at Fear Fest 2, the largest horror convention in Texas, Friday through Sunday at Westin Park Central, 12720 Merit Drive. For more information on scheduling and tickets, call 866-520-FEAR (3327) or visit txfearfest.com.
