The title of the new exhibition at Road Agent Gallery comes from something Aldous Huxley once wrote: "Three-quarters of the time one's never in contact with things, only with the beastly words that stand for them." And while it seems a strange sentiment for someone who made his name writing novels, he has a pointcommunication sometimes stands in the way of our actually experiencing life for ourselves. But, in Beastly Words, native Texan Bradly Brown blurs that line between words and action by transforming "mysterious scrawlings" he found in a library trash can into images of zebras, a fighter plane and more. Beastly Words is on display at Road Agent, 2909-A Canton St., through October 13. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, or by appointment. Call 214-749-4049 or visit road-agent.com.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: Sept. 28. Continues through Oct. 13, 2007
