That J.K. Rowling hussy has nothing on bad-ass mofo Arthur Miller, who understands what it's like to be a witch from the wrong side of the tracks. All Harry, Ron, Hermione and the Hogwarts crew do is flit around on their little brooms with their little house elves and silly Quidditch games. That's not how they did it back in the day. The fine-ass laydeez in The Crucible get down and dirty with the people. They ain't frontin'. Miller's gang of hard-core witches still got the old-school flow, when a sista couldn't even dance 'round a fire in a sista's own backyard without gettin' persecuted by the man, all trying to dip her in the river in a wooden chair and see if she floats and shit. Of course she floats, bro, she's in a wooden chair! Best recognize. Yo, if you're down with witches before witches was bitches, you best check yourself and get your wack ass to the Garland Civic Theatre's production of the original gangsta of witch plays at the Granville Arts Center, 300 N. Fifth St. in Garland. The Crucible runs 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sundays, March 10 to April 1. Tickets are $19 to $20. Call 972-485-8884.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: March 10. Continues through April 1
