So it's Christmas. Wait! No, it's not even Thanksgiving yet, but every grocery store and mall tells us it's time to celebrate that most wonderful time of the year—early and often. So while you're at it, the Great Russian Nutcracker is one of the better ways to get in the spirit. For some reason it seems like it should be seen in a windswept downtown setting, so accordingly the Moscow Ballet performs the show they are most known for at the Majestic Theatre. Although the stage show and music have gone through many incarnations (including the unfortunate '60s novelty, "Nut Rocker"), the basic plot and songs remain the same. The story, appealing to children and adults alike, is one of a young girl, a Nutcracker Prince, a fierce battle against a Mouse King and a colorful, beautiful and somewhat scary dream journey where we meet such memorable characters as the Sugar Plum Fairy. Shows run 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday with additional shows at 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday. Call 214-373-8000 or visit nutcracker.com.
Fri., Nov. 17, 7:30 p.m.; Sat., Nov. 18, 2 & 7:30 p.m.; Sun., Nov. 19, 1 & 5 p.m.
