Strap on your suspenders and bust out the lederhosen: it's time for Kartoffel Fest ("kartoffel" means "potato" to Germans). This Sunday, GermanDeli.com's outlet store (2890 Market Loop in Southlake) honors the importance of potatoes in German cuisine. Hear German musician Peter Balthesar rip up the accordion. Take the Kartoffel Kwiz and test your knowledge of potato trivia. Make inappropriate jokes about the bratwurst. Or, bring your prize-winning potato dish and be crowned Kartoffel King or Queen. Last year, the event raised $100,000 for people living with MS, and 750 people could be seen shoving sausage links into their faces. And one time, she won a James Beard Award for Humor in Writing. That was pretty cool.
