Motion to Rock

More than 25 attorneys, playing in seven different rock bands back-to-back, in the "ultimate battle of the lawyer bands." It's called Law Jam, and it benefits the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, which annually helps about 3,300 families too poor to hire a lawyer. So, OK, we'll go along with the concept. Frustrated rock 'n' rollers get a chance to show off more than their legal briefs. We like the possibilities for names: The Torts, Habeas Corpus, Burden of Proof, Reasonable Doubt, Taking the Fifth, Judge Judy and the Juris Doctors and of course, Pro Bono. Maybe if you go for the groupie package you can go backstage and hit up a lead guitarist for advice on the lawsuit you want to file against your boss. Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "I got lucky last night." Law Jam runs from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday at the Granada Theater, 3524 Greenville Ave. Tickets are $25 for general admission, $100 for the "groupie" package (admission, commemorative T-shirt and beverages).
