Stand-up comedy takes cojones. Just ask my funny friend Donnie, who once took on the crowd at an open mike comedy night and was booed right back to his seat. To this day he still carries the battle scars; he has also come to terms with the fact that his job as a Houston probation officer is much easier on the ego and more likely to pay the bills. But kudos to those who don't give up, including Dallas' very own Dean Lewis. He's performing at the Addison Improv, 4980 Belt Line Road, 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are $12. Call 972-404-8501 or visit improvclubs.com.
Dec. 27-28, 8:30 p.m.
