Last year, my painfully enthusiastic roommate handed me a dollar-store eye patch and forced me to participate in Talk-Like-a-Pirate Day. A few months ago, my little brother had a pirate-themed birthday party, complete with temporary skull-and-crossbones tattoos...and he was turning 19. Pirates are everywhere these days, whether we like it or not, and their latest victim is an innocent fairy tale. Goldilocks and the Three Bears Island is an interactive theater-in-the-round production for kids that features valuable life lessons and Goldilocks as a pirate queen searching for treasure. Recommended for children ages 2 to 92 (and thieving pirate-enthusiasts in need of some basic morality training), the show runs through February 2 at the Artisan Center Theater, 404 E. Pipeline Road in Hurst. Show times are 4:30 p.m. Mondays and 10:30 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets are $3. For reservations, call 817-284-1200.
Mondays, 4:30 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 10:30 a.m. Starts: Jan. 15. Continues through Feb. 2
