Into the Woods

Most Dallasites don't even know the Great Trinity Forest exists. In fact, the largest urban hardwood forest in the nation lies just south of downtown, where it encompasses some 6,200 acres along the shores of White Rock Creek. The Great Trinity Forest, a new exhibition at Sun to Moon Gallery (3001 Keller Springs Road in Carrollton), tries to shed a little light on the subject, showcasing the work of local photographers along the way. Participating artists include Scot Miller (whose photographs appear in the 150th anniversary edition of Walden) and Don and Jill Skupin Burkholder, who use imaginative techniques such as bromoil to create images capturing the forest's natural beauty. The exhibit kicks off with an opening reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. The show continues weekends through October 15. Call 972-418-1199 or visit
