Despite its legendary reputation as one of our fair city's "best fund-raisers," Hooch and Pooch still sounds a little bit like something it's not: like, they round up a bunch of dogs and get 'em drunk. Not beer drunk or wine drunk. Like, scotch drunk. And not just any scotch—really old, expensive, blended scotch. They make a bunch of dogs drink expensive single-malt whiskey, ya know, for charity. Lucky for their little dog livers, Hooch and Pooch is actually a spunky, funky raffle-and-silent-auction-type affair, replete with cheeky little gift totes called "Doggy Bags," benefiting the fantabulous Kitchen Dog Theater. Sure, it's a good time with some good swag for a good cause, but drunken house pets would have been even better. Kitchen Dog Theater's Hooch and Pooch gala commences Saturday from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the McKinney Avenue Theater, 3120 McKinney Avenue. Tickets are $75 in advance, $85 at the door. Groups of six or more enjoy special pricing of $60 per person. Call 214-953-1055 or visit kitchendogtheater.org for more info.
Sat., Jan. 27, 8:30-11:30 p.m.
