Finally, Springer On Tour

TV execs have known for decades that the real broadcast jackpot is the competition show. Sure, we as viewers got sucked into the vortex that was first dominated by the sitcom and then replaced by the reality dramedy, but we've returned to the world of winners and losers with open arms. Shows like So You Think You Can Dance?, America's Next Top Model and American Idol have reminded us how fun it is to root for the guy/girl next door, and America's Got Talent (aka Star Search hosted by Nick Cannon and judged by Sharon Osbourne, Howie Mandel and some British guy) shows us that "talent" (an ambiguous concept on its own) is worthy of praise, no matter what the skill. After several seasons of watching from our couches, America's Got Talent Live is touring the country for a true live experience. Hosted by Jerry Springer, America's Got Talent Live will feature performances from several Season 5 contestants, including winning singer Michael Grimm, runner-up opera singer Jackie Evancho, third place performance troupe Fighting Gravity, 12-year-old ballroom dancing partners Anna and Patryk, stunt bike rider Jeremy Van Schoonhoven, magician/illusionist Michael Grasso, and fan favorite opera singer Prince Poppycock. Everyone takes to the stage 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Verizon Theatre at Grand Prairie, 1001 Performance Place. Tickets are $39.50 to $99.50. Call 1-800-745-3000 or visit
