This promising five-song debut EP doesn't exactly show off Missile's versatility. But range is clearly not what this Missile is aiming for. Just as you'd expect from song titles such as "Fighter, "Seein Red" and "Hell Hound," the Dallas power trio just wants to kick your ass with fast and furious mosh-ready riffs and call-to-arms shouted vocals.
Opener "Fighter" is all fist-pumping us-against-the-world attitude, even if cheesy lines like "We are fighters, we are stronger/ fight with the heart of a lion" make it hard not to smirk just a little bit as you bang your head. And the tough-guy-with-feelings routine is maintained throughout—and at top volume. By closer "Gimme Some," singer/bassist Aaron Bender is begging not to be taken home because he just wants a little more rock 'n' roll.
The CD packaging artwork—especially a shot of the band in uniforms of black leather, scowling as they ride motorcycles toward the camera—is so over-the-top that it seems like the attitude might be just a tad tongue-in-cheek. But the riffs are no joke.
