Drumline

Japan's preeminent performing arts ensemble, Kodo, integrates taiko drumming--a uniquely Japanese style of percussion played with uniquely Japanese drums--singing and dance to put on a show that is as powerful as it is traditional. The group visits Dallas this week as part of a tour celebrating its 30th anniversary and the release of a new album. But don't think you can just buy the album and call it a day. No, this is an experience to be heard, seen and felt. The stage is filled with 24 performers, all of whom have gone through rigorous training to become part of this esteemed troupe. They guide the audience through a perfected program that will have you dropping your jaw and shaking your fanny. See for yourself Thursday at the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House, 2403 Flora Street. Tickets are $19 to $75. Call 214-880-0202 or visit attpac.org.
