Come on, dudes, it's the Muppets -- getting into great capers of treasure, sword-fighting and Christmas carols. On April 22 and 23 witness as Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and sweet banana-nosed Gonzo travel to Tinseltown for The Muppet Movie showing at Landmark Theatres' Inwood Midnights. And midnight Kermit is so much more enjoyable. The Dallas Observer is teaming up with Premiere Video on Mockingbird for a whole series of "more entertaining than humanly possible" screenings, including Jackie Brown and The Room (only a screening if you can classify this as a "film," but that's the whole joy of it). This screening of The Muppet Movie -- one you'll regret if you miss -- features timelessly perfect jokes like Kermit turning left at an actual fork in the road, cameos by Mel Brooks and Steve Martin and -- seriously -- the cry-inducing performance of "The Rainbow Connection." So you'll need to bring some tissues, in addition to a Five-Hour Energy so you don't fall asleep before Dom DeLuise inspires Kermit. Admission to The Muppet Movie is 10 bucks, which is simply dynamite [cue explosion]. As the name implies, it's at midnight. Don't show up at noon, is all we're saying.
