O'Hurley Razzle Dazzles at Bass

Funny how what we abhor in real life- corruption, murder, injustice, and a heaping serving of perjury- makes for compelling entertainment. Though, it always helps when these sins are set to jaunty, Jazz Age music, as they are in Chicago, the long-running Broadway musical about Roxie Hart, an ambitious adulterer who offs her boyfriend and hires a slick shyster to save her from the gallows. Her big dreams of stardom never fade, even as she sits on Murderesses' Row with other lady killers (literally). Don't come to Chicago looking for a redemption story- in this dirty town, the good guys always finish last, but their story never fails to be a provocative, toe-tapping time. Whether you like the vicarious thrill of getting away with murder, or just love the lavish musical numbers, rouge your knees, roll your stockings down and trot on over to Bass Performance Hall, 525 Commerce St., where the touring version of the 1920s-lovin' Chicago dazzles Fort Worth at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 7 p.m. Sunday. John O'Hurley stars as louche lawyer Billy Flynn. Tickets start at $38.50. Call 817-212-4280 or visit basshall.com.
