Formed in 2009, when Woods bassist Kevin Morby and Vivian Girls guitarist Cassie Ramone met at a party in Brooklyn, The Babies started making noise in 2010 with "Meet Me in the City," a gloriously energetic trip that features some of the best dueling vocals this side of a Lee Hazlewood/Nancy Sinatra joint. The band's latest, Our House on the Hill, sees them departing from full-on garage rock to something closer to Woods' Western influence, with highlights "Get Lost" and "Mess Me Around" sounding like something a group of Texans high on hash and knowledge of 22-20s' "Devil in Me" might make. Lonesome Ghost and Doom Ghost open.
