He was here, then he wasn’t, and now he is again. Artist Brandon Kennedy’s show Exit for Sale is currently on display at the Reading Room, and is composed of four works ripped from the recesses of his grayest gray matter. Lovingly billed as “flirting with both failure and disruption,” Kennedy finds source material in items as concrete as a window sign he once snapped a photo of to the more abstract, like an illuminated screen relaying an eavesdropped breakroom conversation. In a chat with D Magazine art critic Peter Simek, Kennedy suggested that we “lower expectations for the show,” assuring us that he will do the same. Find out how low, exactly, we should set the bar on Sunday, when Simek and Kennedy — two men whose names aren’t typically associated with failure — discuss precisely that. The rap session happens at 3 p.m. at The Reading Room (3715 Parry Ave.). Visit thereadingroom-dallas.blogspot.com.
