In between all the Thanksgiving traditions, Christmas miracles or Hanukkah heartwarmers that we’ve experienced throughout the years, we’ve all got one or two memories that we’d rather keep to ourselves. Like that time your boyfriend had to retrieve you from your job’s holiday party because you passed out in the lobby. Or maybe the Christmas Eve you had to bail your little brother out of jail. We don’t talk about those incidents the same way we laud more cheerful holiday experiences, but they still serve as valuable reminders of the bonds we have with family or the good times we shared with co-workers. The McKinney Avenue Contemporary, 3120 McKinney Ave., invites you to share in the experiences of seven performers who take on that theme — discussing the good, bad and ugly of the holiday season. During Oral Fixation: Cold Turkey, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, you’ll hear tales of heartbreak and struggles with addiction, plus a story about being arrested during the most festive time of the year from the Observer’s own copy editor, Jesse Hughey. Tickets are $15 online at oralfixationshow.com, or $20 at the door.
