If you like your stage experience outside of the norm, you probably love the Undermain Theatre, whose latest offering is exceptionally wackadoodle. Written more than a hundred years ago, August Strindberg’s The Ghost Sonata is the model of modernist chamber plays and experimental theater, so it’s a given that it would find itself a good home at the Deep Ellum haunt (3200 Main St.). Part dream and part nightmare (you can decide which), the play is a macabre story with a cast of mummies, vampires and ghosts, all of which challenge one innocent guy as he tackles the mysteries of friendly and familial relations in the face of greed, betrayal and all-around creepiness. Directed by Patrick Kelly, this new translation of the Strindberg classic opens at 8:15 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $15 to $30 and the play runs through May 11, with performances Wednesdays through Saturdays. Call 214-747-5515 or visit www.undermain.org.
