The weather is turning nice, flowers are blooming, people are walking their dogs and actually enjoying it.

This can only mean one thing--winter is done.   The best way to celebrate the spring season is to learn how to prepare a cocktail, of course, and La Duni Latin Kitchen & Studio can help you out with this.

After finding success with their first hands on mojito class a few weeks ago, La Duni has partnered up with Barcadi Rums again and decided to throw together another one this Thursday, April 8. For $17, you can sit outside in NorthPark's Center Park and learn how to prepare the classic cocktail while enjoying food bites. The hour-long class, 6:30-7:30 p.m., will have a bartender demonstrating three methods of mojito preparation--one shaken, one muddled, and one on fire. And no, the on-fire one will not be hands on. Something about not having enough fire extinguishers to go around. For more information or to reserve a spot, call 214-987-2260.

After the class is over, you can take home a muddler (a mixing implement) to attempt to recreate the recipes at home, and La Duni will also ask if you would like to stay for dinner. After sampling their mini Cuban sandwiches, you might just want to.

Also going on this week....

Off the Vine, a wine shop in Grapevine's downtown, will be celebrating women winemakers this Wednesday, April 7, with a wine tasting event. The wine tasting will be held next door at the tea shop Willow Cottage starting at 7 p.m. and admission is $20. If you miss this one, then stop by Off the Vine on a Friday or Saturday afternoon for an in-store complimentary wine tasting. For more information, call 817.421.1091.

Are you a foodie? Do you like doing yoga and have $90? If yes, then this next event may be for you. One Yoga co-founder David Romanelli will be in town next Monday, April 12, teaching the Yoga for Foodies class with chef Dean Fearing, of Fearing's Restaurant. The class will involve you physically, emotionally, and spiritually preparing yourself for a feast afterwards. Sounds a little weird to us, but we'll try anything once. After the yoga session is done you will get to enjoy a dinner prepared by chef Dean Fearing himself. To check out more details, visit www.yeahdave.com or call 214-366-2217.

Let's get ready to, um, cook? Chefs will be battling it out for a good cause this Wednesday, April 7, to help raise money for Texas Neurofibromatosis Foundation. For $50, guests can watch 12 local chefs battle it out while sampling the dishes and voting on who will receive the 2010 Best Chef award. There will be live music from Robert Lee Kobb, a featured vodka bar, and wine and beer will be available while WFAA's Debbie Denmon and Scott Murray MC the event. Chef Blythe Beck, of Central 214, will also be holding a party after the event, but that's not included in the ticket price. Damn! Visit www.diningoutindallas.com for more information on the event.
