Did you get your fill at the Big Texas Beer Fest last weekend down at Fair Park? Nah, us neither. While it was a delicious beer event, it really just teased our hophead tendencies. So, fantastic news! The Paste Untapped Festival is next weekend, April 20, in Fort Worth.
Even better news! The beer list is out and we're tapping our fingertips together in giddy excitement.
In all there are 65 breweries and 200 beers, which are primarily American with an emphasis on the Lone Star State. Plus there are breweries from Germany, New Zealand and eight from Belgium. Such a little place, yet so hoppy.
If you've never been to an Untapped event before (like the one last year in Dallas) here's a bit from their "about" page that sums it up in one tidy line (or three): "At its origin, Untapped was designed by its organizers as an event equally focused on quality music and beer, a balance uncommon at music festivals and rarely found at beer events."
Now for an unbalanced look at the beer line-up:
Some local highlights include the new Quakertown Stout from Armadillo Ale Works out of Denton and three beers from Cedar Creek Brewery in Seven Points, south of Dallas. The recently opened Community Beer Co. will have five beers to taste and Deep Ellum Brewing Co. will roll out a yet-to-be-named barrel-aged barleywine.
Firewheel Brewing Co. from Rowlett will be there as will Four Corners with a Super Bee saison (and three others). Lakewood Brewing Co. will also have a saison, "Till and Toil," along with the bourbon barrel-aged Temptress.
Peticolas will have their very lovely Velvet Hammer and Great Scot with cocoa beans.
Rahr & Sons Brewing will certainly provoke a few beard scratches with a mysterious Cheech and Chong. Two beers that have yet to be defined.
Saint Arnold Brewing will have their recently released Divine Reserve #13 (a Belgian quadruple).
Perhaps the most sought after sample with be Founders' KBS imperial stout (11.2 percent). We heard the Moth went through a keg in mere minutes last week.
Oh. And there's music. Rock on! Get your tickets and more detailed information here.
