City of Aters, do you know what this Wednesday is? It's Cinco de Mayo! The only day that you can actually get away with wearing a sombrero while singing "La Bamba" at a karaoke bar. A few Dallas restaurants will be celebrating the Mexican holiday by having a Bob Armstrong queso-eating contest, offering a big-ass margarita, and letting patrons take a swing at a piñata. Check out a few of the Cinco de Mayo parties happening around the city this week.
Mattito's Tex-Mex is back this year with their annual Cinco de Mattito's party. They will have a Bob Armstrong queso-eating contest, and the winner will receive free queso for a year. Also, they will have a nine-piece salsa band, tequila tasting of Sauza Hornitos, mechanical bull rides, games with prizes, and drinks specials.
Cyclone Anaya's will be celebrating the holiday starting today through Wednesday. They offer happy hour pricing all day long, which includes $4 10.5 oz. house margaritas, $12 for a jumbo 21 oz. house margarita, and $1 off all beers.
Fort Worth's The Pour House will feature DJ Danny West on their patio, while the band, Latin Express, takes the main stage inside. The restaurant will be offering drink specials like $2 frozen margaritas and $13 Mexican buckets of beer. The fun really starts happening at 10 p.m. when they bring the piñata out for guests to smash open. Oh, and no candy for this one, it will be filled with cash and prizes.
Primo's on McKinney will be hosting their first annual Cinco de Mayo party on Wednesday. From 4-10 p.m., you can enjoy great people watching on McKinney while drinking margaritas, red bull and vodka, and draft beers for $3. Nothing beats watching drunk party-goers attempting to walk and talk at the same time.

Chef Kent Rathbun has been a busy man lately operating his four restaurants and coming out with a new product line, Rathbun Elements, for Central Market. Now he's launching BBQ Mondays. Through September, Rathbun's Blue Plate Kitchen will setup shop at Preston Center and feature $11.99 barbecue for lunch and dinner every Monday. You will get to choose a meat or combination platter served with one choice of side item, homemade bread and butter pickles, cornbread sticks, and specialty jams.
Uptown's Coal Vine's Pizza and Wine Bar just debuted a new brunch menu and is now open on weekends from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.. The menu features pancake and omelet stations, breakfast calzone, and more. There's also brunch drink specials like $3 mimosas, poinsetta's, and peach lemonade bellinis.
