The same is true for Outpost American Tavern, the new restaurant to occupy the old Campo Modern Country Bistro space in Oak Cliff. If you were a fan of Campo, you won't recognize the space, which has been completely overhauled and changed from a comfortable fine-dining space to a dim, dark tavern that's a comfortable place for a beer or a cocktail
I wish the food was a little more refined. Ten Bells Tavern and Nova have proved that Oak Cliff is hungry for elevated bar food that sates drinkers while inspiring beyond typical bar snacks. Outpost does the same, but comes up a little short on dishes that don't quite come together enough to really wow me.
That said, the menu is very affordable -- especially during brunch, when not a single menu item crosses the $10 mark. Check out this week's review to read more of my thoughts on Outpost, and leave your own in the comments below.
