Origin Natural Food on McKinney Ave. is changing things up a bit just nine months after opening. Co-owner Jessica Myers says that the grab-and-go restaurant will expand the menu and transition into a full service kitchen and bar concept under the new banner of Origin Kitchen + Bar.

As it stands now, Origin's approach to food is preservative- and soy-free, 100-percent gluten- and dairy-free. Meals are packaged for on-the-go convenience. Origins sources locally as much as possible and uses Windy Meadows Farm chicken, grass-fed Burgundy Pasture beef, Vital Farm eggs and wild-caught fish.
The restaurant expansion will begin on October 18, and they will temporarily close the doors and reopen later this year as a "casual fine dining restaurant" with dinner service, although they will continue to offer made-to-order breakfast and lunch along with a coffee and espresso bar. The menu will still focus on locally sourced food, soon with an expanded selection.
"We anticipate if everything goes smoothly in the renovation and redesign phases, we will open out doors again in early December," says Russell Aldredge, co-owner. "We are hoping to accommodate our strong existing customer base with the counter service style breakfast and lunch, and to bring in new customers with our dinner menu."
