Another month has come and gone and with it a handful of restaurants have opened and closed. Read on for the full list of restaurants happenings in May, and be sure to share tips about new and/or dead restaurants in the comments section below or at [email protected].
Openings:
Rice and Wheat (4906 Maple Ave.): This new Vietnamese/Thai/Sushi restaurant on Maple Ave. (across from Kroger), opened early last month.
HG Sply Co (2008 Greenville Ave.): This restaurant brings the paleo diet (a diet based on the hunter gatherer principles) to East Dallas.
The Hospitality Sweet (400 North Ervay St., Suite 175): This bakery and cafe is now open inside the historic downtown post office and serving breakfast and lunch.
Pozo Mercado (2908 McKinney Ave.): This new "tequila-heavy spot" in Uptown has been opened by La Reve Consultants, the same group that owns Sfuzzi and The Standard Pour.
Haystack Burgers & Barley (100 S. Central Expressway): Richardson locals Kevin and Jenny Galvan and Rob and Christine Wondoloski opened the burger (and sandwich) joint last month.
Closings:
Goody Goody (2937 Greenville Ave.): The original location of the liquor store is set to close at the end of June.
Mockingbird Taproom (5319 E. Mockingbird Lane): The restaurant that opened in Mockingbird Station last year has already shut its doors.
Nosh Euro Bistro (4701 W. Park Ave.): The original Nosh at 4216 Oak Lawn Ave. is still open, but the Plano location has announced its closure via Facebook.
Bandito's (4700 W. Park Blvd): The Plano spot has closed and is being renovated into the Katy Trail Ice House "Outpost."
Coming Soon:
Bowlounge: This new bowling alley and burger joint will offer 12 lanes of bowling and a menu by Twisted Root.
Chip's Old Fashioned Hamburgers: This popular burger restaurant is opening a second location on La Vista Drive in East Dallas.
Taverna Rossa Craft Pizza and Beer (4005 Preston Road): The pizza joint is slated to open at the Lakeside Market sometime this month.
