Denton’s Dust Congress appeared on the radio show "Gulf Coast Live" on WGCU-FM, a Florida National Public Radio affiliate, for an hour-long interview and studio performance last week during their brief southeastern tour through Louisiana, Georgia and Florida. And now the entire appearance is now available on the "Gulf Coast Live" Web page.
After hashing out whether “indie-folk” accurately describes their music, the guys talk about their Egg Tooth EP, their musical influences, their day jobs and the Denton arts and music scene. Also, host Mike Kiniry reveals that Dust Congress player Jeff Barnard’s marimba is the largest instrument brought into the station’s studio.
The appearance was also something of a homecoming for Dust Congress founder and singer Nick Foreman, who is a native Fort Myers, Florida. On the show, Foreman talks about feeling like he had little to do growing up in Fort Myers, and how he hoped his band's live show would help stave off the boredom for kids of his old home town. --Jesse Hughey
