Friday, September 14, at Dallas City Performance Hall
Triple Play -- in which KXT, the Observer and the Kessler Theater curate a three-band bill -- was rolled out over a few months this past spring. This very special installment features the Relatives, Pleasant Grove and Seryn, and will take place at the grand opening of the Dallas City Performance Hall. We're even giving tickets away, so chop chop.
Saturday, September 15, in the Arts District
This show is part of the Observer-sponsored BrewFest, during which people will sample a zillion different beers. Cody Canada and Kirby Brown add to the sudsy, hiccup-y fun.

Friday, September 14, at Dan's Silverleaf
The
first time I heard "That's When I Reach For My Revolver," it was Moby
covering the Mission of Burma song over the speakers of Mesquite's CD
Warehouse, where I worked. CD Warehouse is gone, and so is Moby (pretty
much), but Mission of Burma is putting out some of their best records
yet.
Passion Pit
Friday, September 14, at College Park Center
Dallas fans can breathe easy, as this is one of the Passion Pit shows on this tour that was not canceled.
Saturday, September 15, at Trees
When
Trees first reopened three years ago, the bookings consisted mostly of
butt-rock bands mixed in with some bad dance acts. Now, the venue is
beginning to return to its former glory, and they're inviting us to celebrate with them.
Jimmy Webb
Saturday, September 15, at The Kessler Theater
Gotta give it up for the guy who wrote "Wichita Lineman."
Pinkish Black, The Angelus, Yells at Eels, Wild In The Streets
Saturday, September 15, at Lola's Saloon
This
show is a bit of an art/metal free-for-all. You've got the poster art of
Justin Robertson, who painted skulls on torn-out book covers, and then
William Bryan Massey III reads something before Pinkish Black's set. Wild In the Streets provides the between-set jams.
September 15, 16, at Joe Pool Lake
Reggae is alive and well in South Arlington, which will see performances from the likes of Maxi Priest, Party Zone and Ras Tumba. Prediction: More than 100 hacky sacks will accidentally end up in bonfires.
