After the passing of Lee Jackson in March, the outpouring of emotion from friends and colleagues - in Texas and beyond - was sort of astounding. Those who had never met him felt a kinship; those who did felt the weight of that loss in the creative community. Jackson wrote about music with a passion, clarity and transcendence many of us never attain.

Fellow music scribe Ned Raggett sent along the press release today for a massive compilation in his honor, titled For Lee Jackson in Space, which will begin streaming on Bandcamp on Monday, June 4. Any of the comp's profits will go to the Texas chapter of the ALS Association.

Among the 90 (!) odd acts on the comp, there are contributions from national performers like Six Organs of Admittance and Marissa Nadler, as well as Texas acts like ST 37, Primordial Undermind, Linus Pauling Quartet, Weird Weeds, Zanzibar Snails and more. Zanzibar Snail Nevada Hill designed the album cover. Keep in mind the cause.
