With the suspicious (and relatively recent) death of bandmate Charles Cooper, it is both surprising and uplifting that Joshua Eustis would continue making music under the Telefon Tel Aviv moniker.
The duo of Cooper and Eustis had been creating remarkable electronic music for nearly a decade. The group's third full length release, Immolate Yourself, came out in January, just days before Cooper was reported missing and later found dead. Rumors of suicide were vehemently denied by Eustis and a subsequent autopsy found that Cooper had died from an accidental mix of sleeping pills and alcohol.
Amidst such tragedy, Eustis has soldiered on, performing now with a close friend of the group, Fredo Nogueira.
Whether out of support for someone who has gone through some rough times, or just to catch some cutting edge electronica, there is simply not a better musical choice for a Tuesday evening. And, thanks to Spune Productions, we have a pair of tickets to giveaway to tonight's show--and they'll go to the first person to email Pete with the phrase "Tel Aviv I Say Hi" in the subject line. Good luck!
Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winner.
