Influential Blues Guitarist Bugs Henderson Diagnosed With Cancer, Benefit Concert Scheduled

Many music fans in Dallas know guitarist Bugs Henderson for his influence on the international blues community. In this week's paper edition of DC9 at Night, local blues musician and historian Jim Suhler talked about how Eric Clapton and the late Freddie King would go see Bugs Henderson perform when they were in town.

Yesterday, news got out that Henderson has been diagnosed with cancer. No word on the specifics, but the legend's scheduled performance at the Bass Hall's McDavid Studio on Friday, December 9, in Fort Worth is now a benefit to help with his medical expenses.

Several friends and blues legends have signed on to join the December 9, performance, including The Stratoblasters, Dave Millsap, Buddy Whittington and others. Tickets are $49.50 and are available on the Bass Hall ticket website.

Dallas-based musician and our good friend Bugs Henderson was recently diagnosed with cancer. Henderson was scheduled to perform at McDavid Studio on December 9. That concert is now a benefit for him.

Many of the acclaimed blues guitarist's closest musical friends will come together to perform on December 9 to help raise money for Henderson's medical expenses. The lineup includes The Stratoblasters, Dave Millsap, Bill Hamm, Jay Boy Adams, Junior & the Journeymen featuring Kirby Kelly, Danny Sanchez and Buddy Whittington.

Tickets are $49.50 and are on sale now. All proceeds will go to Henderson.
