Jim Henson created some of film's most lovable characters. Kermit the Frog, Gonzo and the gang only grow more endearing with age. But Henson also created quite a few fantastical monsters that scared the bejeezus out of little kids. The creatures in the mystical, often scary world of Henson's The Dark Crystal earn it the first slot in the Alamo Drafthouse's new Saturday Morning Monster Series. This new weekly series focuses not on the grisly, chew-your-head-off monsters but the ones who won us over.

The screenings will take place at noon on Saturdays and tickets are just $5. When available, the 35mm will be shown. Thus far, the films announced are The Dark Crystal, E.T., and The Witches. More information and tickets are available at drafthouse.com.
