The Dallas Police report says, simply, "TRAFFIC FATALITY #78." There is a time and date: 10:30 p.m. Friday. A location too: 4100 Cedar Springs. But the DPD has no further information, which is why it's asking for help as it attempts to ID whoever was driving the SUV that struck and killed a 50-year-old man the night after Thanksgiving.

DPD is not releasing the man's identity; his family has not yet been notified of his death. And what you see above isn't of much help: Says the department, which provided the security-cam still, the man was attempting to cross Cedar Springs, using the crosswalk, when "possibly a Land Rover or Range Rover SUV with wraparound tail lights" hit him and then "sped away," turning left onto Throckmorton.

That info, and the photo taken immediately after the hit-and-run, are all DPD has to go on. Hence the plea: "Anyone with information on the whereabouts of this vehicle or this offense is asked to contact Vehicle Crimes Detectives at (214) 670-5817." And, yes, this is the 78th traffic-related fatality in Dallas this year.
