I know, shocking that the DFW would land yet another resident on a reality show; those things are littered with locals. Still, CBS's The Amazing Race is probably the most watchable of the lot -- and it just got a little more interesting with the just-announced addition of Fort Worth's own Starr Spangler (real name, no kiddin'), who, three years back, was a Texas Christian University student shaking her pom-poms as a rookie Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader.
If I'm not mistaken, Spangler's a reality-TV vet, having also appeared on CMT's show about the Cowboys cheerleaders. But her brother Nick, with whom she'll compete on the CBS series when it returns for its 13th season (!) on September 28, certainly qualifies as a performer: He's in The Fantasticks revival on Broadway, and earlier this summer he was the recipient of the first-ever Elaine and Jerry Orbach Musical Theater Fellowship presented by the Theater Hall of Fame in New York City. In other word: drama. --Robert Wilonsky
