Art Events to Attend in Dallas This Weekend

Site 131
If Joan Davidow's name sounds familiar, you likely recognize it from her time as the director of either the Arlington Museum of Art or Dallas Contemporary. This weekend, she and her son, Seth, open a new non-profit art space at 131 Payne St. Site 131 plans to focus on the connections between artists here, there and beyond. For its first exhibition, Davidow chose artists who use different processes of layering. She's combined Dallas-based artists Marjorie Schwarz and Arthur Peña with New Jersey-based artist Lauren Muggeo. The grand opening of the space takes place from 6-9 p.m. Saturday. More at

Fem Fridays
The feminist British quarterly magazine Hysteria was launched in 2013 by a collective of the same name. This weekend for Fem Friday, local artists have organized a series of short films and readings, drawing from the work of contributors to Hysteria. The hope is to develop conversations about feminism in the response to the work. They're meeting at the Drugstore Cowboy, 2721 Main St., from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday. Admission is free. BYOB.

Holiday Party @ Public Trust & Liliana Bloch
If you haven't yet seen the exhibitions at Liliana Bloch Gallery and The Public Trust (2271 Monitor St.), they're inviting you by for a holiday party this weekend. Current exhibitions are of Michael Corris and Mylan Nguyen, respectively. Have punch on the house from noon-8 p.m. Saturday and enjoy the art. Next door Galleri Urbane will also stay open late.
