10 Awesome Food Events this Weekend, January 28-31: Doughnuts, Crepes and Girl Scout Cookies

Now is the time to make a dent in your "Bottled Beers to Try" list. Sundown at Granada is celebrating their 4th anniversary by discounting all 40 of their bottled beers to $1. And if dollar beer isn't enough of a loss-leader, Granada will offer half-priced salads to boot. So go, revelers, go. Drink all the beers. But eat some salad, too.

The Grape's latest iteration of their wine dinner features special guest Ashley Durkin. We’re pretty sure the dinner, titled Come As You Are, doesn't have anything to do with Kurt Cobain. Unless, that is, the grunge rocker was a fan of Jackson Family Wines' Pinot Noir, in which case this all makes perfect sense. Come As You Are will feature three courses accompanied by wine. Pretend like you care about "notes" and "maceration processes" and "tannins" as you numb your senses and inhibit your judgement at this Fort Worth Food and Wine Festival event. Representatives from two Texan vineyards, Brennan Vineyards and Pedernales Cellars, will elucidate their wines as they guide participants through tastings. The cost is $25 per person.

For those of you who like a little cheese with your wine, try the Mozzarella Company's wine and cheese event. The evening starts with a behind-the-scenes tour and is followed by a wine and cheese pairing and related discussion. Tickets are $50 per person. Call 214-741-4072 for reservations.

Become intimately acquainted with the Scoville Scale at ZestFest 2016. This three-day festival celebrating all things spicy will include food tastings, celebrity chef appearances and, of course, obligatory atomic wing- and jalapeño-eating contests. Admission is $11 per person. The Fiery Food Challenge awards dinner on Saturday and the roasted pig and rib dinner on Sunday are not included in the price of admission.

There's a new brewery in town. Or more accurately, there's the first Texas location of a Colorado-based microbrewery in Rowlett. Backcountry Brewery moved into the space that once housed FireWheel Brewing, and they've been brewing ambers and ales ever since. To mark the opening, all pints will be $4 and a dollar from each pint will be donated to tornado relief efforts.

Girl Scout cookies and craft beer: a pairing so indulgent, it's sure to make even the most lenient dietitian cringe. This year, LUCK will pair Thin Mints with Shannon Brewing Company's Chocolate Stout; Samoas with Rahr's Angry Goat Weizen Dopplebock; Do-si-dos with Texas Ale Project's Somethin Shady Porter; and Lemonades with Martin House's Salty Lady Gose.

Tim Love's pop-up may be sold out, but that doesn't mean you can't get your pop-up fix this week. This Sunday, Whisk Crepes will set up shop at Veritas Wine Room. The menu includes a host of sweet and savory crepes made from either buckwheat or white wheat flour batter.
