The 23rd annual Kosher Chili Cook-off is this Saturday, which means your favorite cud-chewing, cloven-hooved chili-fodder will be well represented. In addition to beef chili, the 40-50 team cook-off will also feature veggie chili in what one supposes is a bid to keep the crunchy granola types happy. This event, which attracts upwards of 5,000 people every year, costs $12 for adults and $6 for kids ages 3-10.

All things aged, oaked, stirred and smoked will culminate in Parliament's Whiskey Masters Mixology Class. Even beginners can learn advanced mixing techniques during this hands-on tutorial. Led by Parliament's bar team, including Eddie "Lucky" Campbell, this class will walk you through the history of whiskey and the American bar before discussing more modern techniques like barrel-aged cocktails and infusion theory. Participants will learn to create five distinct cocktails, tasting as they go. The cost is $95.94 per person, and tickets are limited.

The 12th iteration of Glazed Donut Works & LUCK's Beer Pairing Flight is like the 11 that came before it in that there will be mini donuts and craft beer from North Texas breweries. It will be different in that the pairings will no longer be served on first-come, first-served basis, but rather they are being pre-sold online as part of specific seatings. The 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. seatings have already sold out, but at last check the 3 p.m. still had decent availability. Because nothing says light mid-afternoon snack like fried, sugary confections and alcohol. Tickets are $16 each.

Students will present either an appetizer or dessert of their own creation for all attendees to sample. Area chefs will then select the winners.
