The Dallas Police Department's Child Exploitation Squad and Internet Crimes Against Children Unit arrested Javier Echeverria, 22, for the possession and distribution of child pornography, a third degree felony, on Sunday.

Echeverria was arrested following a tip submitted to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the sexual abuse of an infant. According to DPD, detectives were able to determine the location where the pornography footage was shot.

Police got a warrant, searched Echeverria's house and identified the infant victim of the alleged sexual abuse. Echeverria is currently being held in Balch Springs City Jail. His bond has not yet been set.

Echeverria's arrest on Sunday was at least the second child porn arrest made by the Child Exploitation Squad in less than a month. The unit is tasked with an increased workload. In March, DPD shut down the department's sex offender unit in order to respond to a statistical spike in violent crime in the city. Many of that unit's duties, including monitoring released sex offenders' online activities, were handed to the child exploitation unit.
