This week, we grabbed our $20 discman, popped in a CD from Grand Ole Party and drove over to the Half Price Books on Northwest Highway. After the ambushees consented to donning our headphones, we pressed play, nudged up the volume up and subjected them to “Look Out Young Son,” the first track off the San Diego band’s debut album.

Grand Ole Party, along with Red Monroe and Man Factory, plays at The Cavern on Saturday night. Doors open at 9 p.m.

And if you like the track, and you want to hear it again, feel free to download it...

Bonus mp3:

And also? The first person to e-mail Pete with “I want me some GOP” in the subject line wins a pair of tickets to the show.

Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winner. (But, remember, we're still giving away tickets to the Evangelicals show...) --Daniel Rodrigue

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
