We'd heard that the Granada was in talks to book this show, but some Friends of Unfair Park, oddly enough, are the ones who confirmed to us that it was gonna happen--and they did so in an irreverent item about Mr. Peppermint, no less. Well, actually, that's not so weird...

See, Mr. Peppermint is Gibby Haynes' dear ol' dad.

And when people noticed the Peppermint post, they starting pointing their fingers here to where you can buy tickets for the October 22 show (as listed on the Granada's page, but not yet the Surfers' site...hmm....).

Talk about a random connection. Oh well, we'll take the Surfers any way we can get 'em. --Pete Freedman

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
