Support the independent voice of Dallas and help keep the future of Dallas Observer free.
Update: 12:10 p.m.: Plano PD's David Tilley relates that just two citations for simple assault were issued, Class C misdemeanors, and no one appeared to be intoxicated. The altercation actually happened around 10 p.m. last night, and people were gathered at Prestonwood Baptist because a "field trip" had just dispersed. Tilley says Travis refused transport to the hospital, as did others involved.
Original post: Earlier this month, Randy Travis' mugshot became a meme after he was found naked in a Grayson County convenience store, and arrested for a DWI. Earlier this year, the singer was booked for public intoxication outside the First Baptist Church in Sanger.
He's now Ronnie Dobbs-ed himself, and was apparently involved in a skirmish outside a Plano church early this morning, involving another man and a woman. Travis was cited for assault.
Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
