Vinnie Paul Announces Plans For Another Dimebag Bio--And He's Endorsing This One

Roger Caldwell

Ah, yes. What would a week be without another head-spinning look into the nutty world of book publishing--as applied to biographies about the late, great Dimebag Darrell. Sure, you already know about the so-called "controversy" surrounding Zac Crain's book. And, if you've been up on your DC9, you know about the one Vinnie Paul hawked a few weeks back at an area Best Buy.

But, wait! There's more.

Today, on Blabbermouth.net, we learn of yet another biography in the works, and this one's truly backed by Dimebag's brother Vinnie Paul--apparently more so than the one he was signing copies of recently...

This one, far as I can tell in my skimming, doesn't have a name yet, but it does have a vaguely expected release (after 2010) and a writer (Nick Bowcott of Guitar World). So, while this untitled work may be the most comprehensive on the man (Bowcott will almost certainly have an access to the Abbott family that the other writers have been refused), don't hold your breath awaiting its arriving.

So, there you have it.

And, in case you were wondering: Why, yes, this does give Blabbermouth an excuse to re-hash Crain's book and drag the former Observer music editor's name and book through the mud yet one more time. Unfortunately, no hilarious reader comments further insulting Crain are up as of yet.

Nothing against Zac--we just think those comments are generally pretty amazing. --Pete Freedman
