Barred and Grilled

As the sign at right indicates, longtime Lower Greenville Avenue survivor Greenville Bar & Grill was shut down last month. The space will reopen sometime in April, but not with the old GB&G moniker. That tag is gone for good. Greg Merkow, owner of Hurricane Grill next door, has acquired all of GB&G's assets, scribbled up a lease and will transmute the spot into Merkow's Seafood & Steak after a little tweaking. "It was very, very dirty, and it just needs a lot of maintenance," says Merkow. "We're going to give it a spit shine." Merkow's brother, Barry Moss, a sous chef from Florida, will be the chef after he arrives in Dallas later this month.
