We're a couple of days late on this, but Friend of Unfair Park Scott Henson, who runs the must-read Grits for Breakfast Web site, has posted his list of the Top Ten Texas Criminal Justice Stories of 2006. There are plenty of Dallas mentions on the list, naturally, among them the fact Dallas County has had 10 exonerations in the last five years "based on DNA evidence that disproved trial court testimony by witnesses or snitches," most recently that of Larry Fuller after he served 25 years for a crime he did not commit. And that U.S. Department of Justice report about the horrific conditions in the Dallas County Jail? Yup, there too. --Robert Wilonsky
