Came across a press release from The City-Owned Hotel celebrating its 250,000th room booking — and, hey, the joint don’t even open till 11/11/11, at which point Tom Leppert will emerge from the Presidential Suite, stroking a white Persian, to cut the ribbon using only his laser-like stare. The press release directs our attention to the hotel’s website, which is full of familiar renderings and then some, not to mention virtual tours of the facilities — from its myriad meeting rooms to its handful of dining options, including Texas Spice (which promises an “innovative farm-to-market concept”), to the Mokara Salon & Spa. But with any big space, it’s the little touches that count the most, and I really like the South Side of Lamar painting hanging in the “luxurious guest bathroom.” Well done, Mr. Matthews, well done.
