If you go to YouTube's home page this morning, you will notice at the top right-hand corner a video titled "Neiman Marcus -- The Mystique Part 1." It's no amateur posting, of course, but one of six slick docu-ads Neimans is posting in the low-rent district as part of its 100th anniversary shindig. It's getting plenty of pub this a.m., as it's full of famous faces and heirs to the throne, among them Lawrence Marcus (son of Herbert), former buyers and exexs, and designers Karl Lagerfeld, Zac Posen and Giorgio Armani, whose visit to Dallas last week is the subject of this Women's Wear Daily story this morning. ("I've seen the Dallas customer evolve and become more and more sophisticated over the last two decades," Armani tells WWD, and, clearly, he's never seen the Unfair Park wardrobe.)

Below's the first part of the Neimans doc; there are several other chapters as well, some of which contain fascinating photos and historic newsweel footage of the downtown Dallas location. And the last one includes the best advice ever, courtesy Bobbi Brown: "Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize." --Robert Wilonsky

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
