Somewhere under a pile of books in the office is a copy of Park Cities author Kim Gatlin's Good Christian Bitches, which I may finally have to read based upon this Deadline Hollywood exclusive: Darren Star -- creator and exec producer of, among others, Sex and the City and Melrose Place -- has ABC, NBC and CBS calling dibs on his latest series, an adaptation of Gatlin's book being penned by First Wives Club and Soapdish scribe Robert Harling. Reports Nellie Andreeva:

The project, referred to by some as "Desperate Housewives in Dallas," centers on Amanda Vaughn, a recently divorced mother of two who, to get a fresh start, moves back to the affluent Dallas neighborhood where she grew where she finds herself in the whirling midst of salacious gossip, Botox, and fraud.

Starring Bradley Whitford. Though I may be wrong about that.

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
