Chris Bell has a new gig: Just moments ago, the Washington, D.C.-based law firm of Patton Boggs announced that the former U.S. Representative and failed Texas gubernatorial candidate has taken a gig in the firm's Dallas office. There, says the release, he will "counsel clients on a wide range of matters related to public policy and lobbying issues, administrative and regulatory matters, and litigation and dispute resolution cases." In other words: Chris Bell knows people.
In semi-related news, one of Bell's opponents in the gubernatorial election, Kinky Friedman, will be at Poor David's Pub on Saturday, raising money at a "bonefit" for the his Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch. The shindig will cost you $40; tix are available here or by calling Poor David's at (214) 565-1295. Doors open at 7:15 p.m., Black Top Gypsy goes on at 8, followed by Friedman at 9. And we're still not quite sure what to make of the shirt above. --Robert Wilonsky
