Support the independent voice of Dallas and help keep the future of Dallas Observer free.
There were a handful of Christmas-light-viewing suggestions in the Unfair Park in-box this morning -- and how in the wide, wide world of sports did I miss the round-the-corner extravaganza on 11565 Cromwell Circle, home to 35,000 twinkling lights and, per Mike McNaughton's e-mail, "a private radio station and a talking Christmas tree and a light show worthy of the Olympics all set in time to Holiday Music!" Maybe we'll swing by before hitting Royal China tonight (a family tradition that dates back to the mid-'70s).
And last night, the great Patti Haskins snapped these terrific look-sees at the explosion of joy at 714 Newell Ave., not far from Woodrow. Local punk icon included amongst the stack of photos at no extra charge.
Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
