Leslye Headland’s hit Broadway play Bachelorette was recently turned into a movie, starring Kirsten Dunst, Rebel Wilson, Isla Fisher and Lizzy Caplan as a group of high school friends falling down a rabbit hole the night before a friend’s wedding. It was funny, touching and real, unlike many of the recent ensemble comedies that have attempted to satirize weddings, romance, etc. Headland’s latest play, Assistance, turns its gaze to the world of corporate assistants, and has already been picked up as a TV pilot, starring Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23’s Krysten Ritter. Senior theater student Samantha Rios directs SMU’s production of it, with shows at 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Margo Jones Theatre (6101 Bishop Blvd.). Tickets cost $7 to $13. Call 214-768-ARTS for more info.
