You know that if you let yourself, you’ll spend the whole week holed up on your couch picking through jelly beans and justifying the slaughter of hollow chocolate bunnies. But spare yourself: There are so many alternatives to that sugary rabbit hole you’re about to head down — all of which are infinitely more satisfying than marshmallow chicks. This week, you can learn to succeed as an artist, fathom new frontiers in design, or dust off your Vespa and take it for a night ride — so pick up all those candy wrappers and bite into a sweet array of local arts endeavors instead.

Michelada Think Tank: Survivin’ and Thrivin’
7 p.m. Monday
Ash Studios
3203 Ash Lane
Free

Local arts advocates Darryl Ratcliff and Carol Zou host an evening designed for artists of color or allies who have completed the Allyship Think Tank series. Part one of three, tonight’s installment focuses on the practices that help artists succeed — including assembling portfolios and writing effective artist statements. Ratcliff and Zou will also focus on how local artists can prepare for and apply to a new City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs grant program that offers up to $20,000 for projects that advance cultural equity. See Facebook for details.

Shakespeare in the Bar: As You Like It
7 p.m. Monday
Eight Bells Alehouse
831 Exposition Ave.
$7
All the bar’s a stage as Shakespeare in the Bar serves up a delightfully zany, vaguely boozy and slightly under-rehearsed version of As You Like It at 7 p.m. Monday. Eight Bells Alehouse (831 Exposition Ave.), plays host to The Bard’s beloved musical comedy, known for its witty dialogue, complex family drama and gender-bending princess. Shakespeare in the Bar’s freewheeling, liquored up production adds an extra element of humor to the crowd-pleaser; tickets are $7 at eventbrite.com. For procrastinators, 50 walk-up tickets will be released the day of the show. Find more information at facebook.com/shakespeareinthebar

Dallas Center for Architecture Forum Lecture: Marc Fornes
7 p.m. Tuesday
Magnolia Theater
3699 McKinney Ave.
$20

If you’re looking for a fascinating dive into the intersection between design and technology, you could Google “computational skinning.” Or you could save a few hours of head-scratching and wishing you’d paid more attention in high school geometry and see the person credited as being something of a modern computational skinning rock star discuss its applications in art and architecture. It’s fascinating stuff, whether you grasp the technicalities or not: Fornes is a renowned contributor to the research and practice behind large-scale, self-supported and groundbreaking structures used for fashion pop-ups and art installations.

Dallas Theater Center’s All the Way
7:30 p.m. Wednesday
Wyly Theater
2400 Flora St.
$26.50-$73

Dallas Theater Center has extended its run of Robert Schenkkan’s political drama, giving us a few more opportunities to see the timely exploration of politics, power and morality. The production takes on the outsize legend of LBJ, seen by many as a harbinger of civil rights — but also as a bully and master manipulator. Brandon Potter takes on the role of the 36th President of the United States, presenting an unforgettable portrayal of a man struggling to strike a balance between telling it like it is and getting things done.
